G.I.F.T.ed stands for Graceful, Intentional, Faithful and Tenacious. The words were chosen because they are what I noticed were constantly in the inspirational and encouraging words of women to other women in the fertility groups I joined on social media.
Also, I played around with different words…Hope & Faith, Grace & Faith, Thrive, Faith & Grace, Warrior, etc. and just could not pull the trigger on an idea for the name. I talked to a friend about it and she said it would come to me.
After I meditated and still could not determine a name, I decided to just wait for a sign.
Then on August 20, 2023 on the anniversary of my wife’s grandmother’s (Gracie Lee) passing, I saw the birth announcement of a woman who had a long journey to get pregnant and she named her daughter, Gracie. Also in the same day, a young woman I had met in a local fertility group had twin girls whose middle names are Faith and Grace.
And I think that is what my journey and battle with fertility and conception challenges have taught me, Grace, Intent, Faith and Tenacity.
It takes GRACE to stick this out when you just want it to happen so bad but have no control.
It takes INTENT to plan, do your own research, not give up and follow through on all information and possibilities to make conception happen.
It takes FAITH to trust that parenthood will come to you, however it may.
Lastly, it takes TENACITY you may not even have realized you possessed to keep striving, readjusting, readapting and repeating the process through setbacks or let-downs.
